Reasons to book
What people come in for
This is a list of reasons people book. It is not a list of things I fix, and I make no promises about any of them.
Rest and sleep
A place to lie down for an hour with no phone and no list. Some people sleep well that night. Some notice no change.
Back, hip and pelvic aches
Common as the body changes, and in the weeks after a birth. I ask what a normal day feels like for you and what your midwife or doctor has said.
Feeling wound up
Worry, tight shoulders and a jaw that won't unclench. Acupuncture is a calm hour, not therapy, and I will say if another kind of help fits better.
Queasiness
Some people come in during the early weeks for queasiness. Tell your midwife or doctor if you can't keep fluids down.
Waiting between appointments
During a clinic cycle the days between visits and results can be long. A visit is an hour that isn't about numbers.
Tiredness after a birth
A slower hour when your own care tends to come last, with your support person beside you if you like.
Being honest
What acupuncture does not do
Acupuncture does not replace prenatal care, a reproductive clinic, a midwife, a doctor or any medicine. I don't promise a result, and I don't quote numbers.
Call your midwife or doctor first, or go to an emergency room, for bleeding, severe pain, fluid leaking, a fever, a bad headache with changes in vision, or if your baby moves less than usual. In an emergency, call 911.
Wondering if your reason fits?
Write to me. I will tell you honestly whether a visit makes sense.
